Joseph vonHottenstein has had a successful and remarkable career, finding fulfilling expression as a creator of handcrafted signs, photography in the workings of the state's government for over 30 years, and restoring to museum quality rare and antique motorcycles.
Joe now turns his considerable talents and vision to a skill he developed over 40 years ago: the portrait bust.
Joe's adventures have taken him to five continents and many countries. Each time an opportunity to study that country's portrait art arose he took full advantage of it.
"With the background of the previous art careers behind me, I now utilize my knowledge in producing highly detailed portrait busts. I sculpt subtractively as I have found that this allows me to include features of the subject that might otherwise be lost."
